 FAERIES, FLOATS, AND HOOLIE HOOPS
The parade starts at 10am (yes, 10:00 AM!!) at Union Station, ending a few hours later at 15th and Grand. The parade should be unique and exciting this year with "Show-Me You're Irish" as the theme. Actually, what will be different are all the baracades along the route - no crossing back and forth across the parade route this year to give your buddy a beer. You're gonna have to tell him to 'go long...' and hope you don't nail the paper mache rainbow.

Following the parade, there's something about a family-friendly, alcohol-free event where you can enjoy live music and basketball. Called Hoolie Hoops, tickets are $8 and available at Kelly's Westport Inn.

 DRINK ME, I'M IRISH.
Everyone's Irish on St. Patty's Day. And everyone over the age of 5 can make green beer. Grow up already. Be a good little leprechaun and make your friends turn green with envy by mixing together a few special cocktails. Whether or not you wear the leprechaun costume is up to you.
Grasshopper Martini
1/2 oz Creme de Menthe
1/2 oz White Cream de Cocoa
3/4 oz vodka

Shake well over ice. Strain into chilled cocktail glass.

Irish Car Bomb
3/4 pint Guinness stout
1/2 shot Bailey's Irish Cream
1/2 shot Jameson Irish whiskey

A classic. Add the Bailey's and Jameson to a shot glass, layering the Bailey's on the bottom. Pour the Guinness into a pint glass 3/4 of the way full and let settle. Drop the shot glass into the Guinness and chug.

Hot Kiss Goodnight
2 oz Irish whiskey
2 tsp Cream de Menthe
1/2 oz Creme de Cacao
4 oz freshly brewed black coffee (strong)

Pour everything in a mug and stir thoroughly. Add a thick cap of whipped cream and place a Hershey's Kiss on top.

 WHY IS MY CARPET GREEN?
It's funny... until it happens to you. (Even though we told you not to drink the green beer, we can't hardly blame you. What the hell else are you supposed to do while you're waiting on the Guinness to settle?) To get rid of green carpet:
  • Blot stain with paper towel to remove as much of the stain as possible
  • Saturate the spot with a white vinegar solution (1/3 cup WHITE vinegar in 2/3 cup of water). Then, blot to remove excess moisture.
  • Apply a small quantity of detergent solution (mix 1/4 teaspoon of a dish washing detergent, i.e. Dawn or Joy, with 1 quart of water -- be sure your detergent doesn't contain bleach!)
  • Blot with a paper towel; rinse with tap water; then blot dry.
  • If stain persists, repeat process or buy new carpet.
It's your fault you stained the carpet in the first place. BarScoop.com takes no responsibility for the condition of your rug - before or after using this cleaning process.
